The Dance Space Announces New Summer Classes, Camps and Workshops

It is still not too late to be a part of The Dance Space, an up and coming new dance studio located in Flower Mound. The Dance Space just announced additions to the summer schedule. Check out the following classes today and reserve your spot by emailing info@thedancespace.info, called 972-539-8555 or stopping by the office at 1631 Justin Road (in front of Cloud 9) in Flower Mound.

Theatre Dance Camp: Three sessions will be held to teach students various dance techniques related to musical theater. Theatre Dance 1: July 14, 16, and 18^th from 1:30-3:30 and Theatre Dance 2: July 21, 23, and 25^th from 1:30-3:30 for ages 6-9, $100. Theatre Dance 3: August 11-15^th from 1-4 p.m., for ages 10 to teen, $150.

New Ballet and Tap class for ages 3-4 year olds-Wednesday 12-12:45

Fancy Nancy Camp: two sessions for ages 4-7. June 24 & 26^th and July 7 & 9^th both from 1-4 p.m.

Teen Technique Dance Class: June 18, 25^th, July 2, & 9^th from 1:30-3:30, $20 each, drop ins welcome

Teen Technique Workshop: July 21-25 from 1-5 p.m.

Music Video Workshop: for ages 8-12, August 11-15 from 10-12 p.m.

Company Try Out Prep Class: July 19, 26 and August 2, ages 5-7 from 10-11 a.m. and ages 8-11 11:30-1 p.m.

The Dance Space Dancy Company just wrapped up their 2007-08 competition season and finished with top scores in all of their competitions. Summer registration for The Dance Space in Flower Mound is in full swing. The Dance Space is offering some fun camps and classes, such as the Hannah Montana Pop Star Camp, Princess Ballerina Camp and American Girl Camp. Try outs for the dance company will take place in August, so if your dancer wants to audition, make sure you register for at least one summer intensive. These are held in July and August and cost $150 per week.

The Dance Space offers a full schedule of dance classes and dance lessons for everyone-no matter what the level. The Dance Space serves Flower Mound, Highland Village, Lewisville and surrounding area. Kindermusik will begin in June as well as adult ballroom dancing. The Dance Space will hold a grand opening and open house on Saturday, April 5 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in conjunction with the new Family Care Chiropractic and Wellness Center. The grand opening for The Dance Space and Family Care Chiropractic is located at 1681 Justin Road in Flower Mound, in front of Cloud Nine. There will be entertainment, food and activities for the kids. Stop by The Dance Space to learn more about classes or to register for summer camps. The Benefits of Dance Lessons

Exercise and fitness is so important for kids today. They need to have an outlet for their energy and to get out and have fun with their peers, too. Some parents and children choose sports such as soccer, baseball or football.

Dance is another great activity for children. Many of the lessons learned in team sports, are also taught during dance class, too.Some of biggest lessons that children learn when they participate in dance are self-control and discipline. Just as any sport, it takes practice and work to get dance just right.

Some parents may not think of dance as a team sport, but that is simply not true. In a dance class, children must not only learn their dance steps for a routine, but they must also learn to work with others. In any type of dance, every member of the classis an integral part of the routine and children learn to work together.Another reason why dance classes are so great for children is because it builds self-esteem. Even the very shy child, or the child that is not cut out for vigorous team sports can succeed in dance class.

The possibilities and opportunities for a child in dance are limitless. Dance appeals to all ages, too. In most cases, children as young as two can begin dance classes. They will learn the basics of movement and rhythm and as they progress, so will their dancing skills.
